UNeMed Solutions is a newly-established, privately-held, for-profit translational research firm that utilizes a technology transfer model to commercialize early stage technologies, usually resulting from academic research. With a commitment to technology transfer through value-added research management, intellectual property strategy, technology marketing, out-licensing and venture development, UNeMed Solutions commercializes early stage technologies that address a long felt needs in the market. Mainly through the SBIR/STTR programs offered through the federal government, UNeMed solutions seeks to leverage external research funding opportunities to advance compelling early stage technologies.
UNeMed Solutions is an independent licensee of the UNeMed trademark from UNeMed Corporation, the technology transfer office for the University of Nebraska Medical Center. Founded by private investors and UNeMed Corporation, UNeMed Solutions works closely with the state of Nebraska, the city of Omaha, the University of Nebraska and UNeMed Corporation to provide transnational funding for early stage technologies arising from University research. With an emphasis on the biotechnology and bio medical fields UNeMed Solutions has expertise spanning the wide scope of life sciences: from medical devices to new biologics. Currently, UNeMed Solutions is seeking funding from the National Institutes of Health to develop and commercialize new animal models and seeking similar opportunities from funding agencies across the federal government.
Together, these projects show the flexibility of UNeMed Solutions’ business model. All projects involve early stage university research with the potential to address a long felt need in a high impact way. They need research support to progress towards commercialization and guidance as to how they can translate from research to a stable business model. UNeMed Solutions’ expertise in technology transfer enables it to identify and manage a broad range of projects. The company is managed by Joe Runge, an experienced technology transfer professional and veteran of several and diverse marketing campaigns. As a patent lawyer, Mr. Runge has the expertise to identify new innovation and build a plan for intellectual property protection. As a scientist, he has the capability to engage scientists to ensure that the commerciality of a project is built into the research plan. Mr. Runge has successfully commercialized technologies in the pharmaceutical, biotechnological, medical diagnostic, medical device and information technology fields.
